Its been a busy month to be a seawolf this month, but all is well. We started the month off by going to colorado for a 10 day ski trip, it was epic. When we were there it snowed three feet! We had some awesome training but some really fun free skiing. Seeing and skiing all the snow in colorado made the team fired up for winter back in AK. Even though it was 40 degrees and raining in Anchorage. So while the lower 48 is cold and snowing we are getting Hawaii's warm wet weather. We came back to AK and the mountains had less snow on them from before we had left . So it was time to put the skis away and get the hiking shoes back out.
Even though we had a super hard week back in the gym i had to get out and go play. Finally on saturday i was able to do a quick lift session and then have a five hour window to go do something. I had miranda drop me off at the Prospect Heights trail head at noon and new i had to sorta go fast because sun sets at 3:45. Made it to the top in 2 hours, solid trail not to steep, not a million switch backs, but a good consistent grade all the way to the top. The trail got a little icy so i took my tim on the way down and was able to watch the sun set over the biggest mountains in north america! One of the best sunsets i have ever seen. The alpine glow up here is so amazing. I got back to the trailhead at 4 and miranda was there to pick me up. It was a fun quick solo mission and got to see into some cool new valleys. Its so crazy to look at this mountains and see such cool lines to ski but have no snow. Also its so crazy to look at some of the lines you want to ski and see that there are no safe zones top to bottom. I have no idea how to ski some of the lines safely. Its going be so cool to learn about these lines and one day send them safely. ALL WE NEED IS SNOW NOW! |
