Finally after seven hard weeks of training we got a recovery week. Well the coaches say don't do anything to active, i always look at these times to go out and explore because you actually have energy for once. I am probably shooting myself in the foot thought for the next week. I was hoping for a weekend full of sun and clear skies so i could finally get into the mountains and see some lines for the winter, mother nature didn't did wont that. I was still able to get out though and do a ridge run. Coming from colorado lots of ridge runs are long committing tasks, but here you have class 3 ridges just 20 mins out side of town. We had a quick recovery work out in the AM and then around 1 i was off. It took me an hour to gain the ridge. I summited Little O'Mally and False Peak. Half way across Flase peak and O'Malley peak i started to question myself. Its 3 pm, cold, wet, slippery rocks, and your in a storm, what are you doing? I decided to skreet ski a gully down to some lakes and walk the power line back to the road. I should have just keep going but i was happy and pleased to get a fun, fast, safe little ridge run in before the weekend. |
