GAPER DAY!!!!!!! I learned the lesson the hard way, 3rd degree sunburn on your face is the shittiest thing to ever have, listen to your mom and put your sunscreen on! Last time I went out I didn't and now my nose and cheeks are falling off! Today I had plans with my family in the morning but was going to hopefully get out and play in the afternoon. When I started off I made sure I had sunscreen on my face and I buck-taped a nose protector to my glasses to help prevent further damage. It was a very interesting day for weather, we had snow, sun, and clouds but hey that's every day in Colorado. Henry had planned on skiing a quick line in Frisco called Dirty Book couloir. As I took the bus to Frisco I got a call from Herny saying that his dad was going to join us, I knew we were going to have a great shred! We left the trail head and with Keran being the marathon runner he took off, Hanky and I just cruised. Rather then going up the summer trail we decided to fallow a skin trail that Keran had found, straight up we went! Got to the top in under an hour and geared up. We skied down to the entrance of the couloir together, confident in the snow. |
We recognized that are hazards for the day where going to be sluff management and variable snow conditions. With a clear line of view top to bottom I dropped first. I had some great turns and some really sketchy turns, this was the first time that my knee really didn't like what I was doing. Taking it nice and easy I stopped on top of a ridge where I new the sluff from Henry and Keran would not hit me so I could get some pics. We measured the bottom part of the couloir at 41 degrees, the upper part has to be a little higher then 45 degrees. After we measured and regrouped we skied one by one to the bottom, bush waked threw the aspens, back to the summer trail and out we went. All in all it was a nice hour and a half trip with some fun turns and we had a great time with Keran!
